Microsoft outlines new features in Windows 8 Enterprise

After laying out its plans for Windows 8 in the retail sector, Microsoft has detailed new features and improvements that will ship with Windows 8 Enterprise. Features such as Windows To Go, DirectAccess, and enhancements to RemoteFX are aimed at increasing workplace mobility. AppLocker can be used to control files and application access restrictions across users and group, while BranchCache has been introduced to increase Windows Server 2012 efficiency.

Windows To Go will allow professional to carry their entire Windows 8 desktop environment on a bootable external USB stick. This, along with Windows RT Virtual Desktop Access (VDA) Rights will be available under Software Assurance (SA) license from Microsoft. Microsoft will also include optional management, security and virtualization services likes Windows Intune, Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP), and User Experience Virtualization (UE-V).
