Conquest Vehicles, a company famous for building the KNIGHT XV armored SUV, has revealed this week a new unarmored model, which is called the Evade. Even though the Conquest Evade looks very similar to the KNIGHT XV, there are a few differences. The Evade has narrower wheel arches, a new front fascia with redesigned headlights, a modified grille and other minor design changes. Its rear bumper has an integrated step to facilitate entry and exit. The Conquest Evade is made from aluminum and steel, and it's a lot lighter than the KNIGHT. This means better performance and improved efficiency. Unfortunately, Conquest
did not release a lot of technical details regarding the Evade. What we do know is that it's built on a Ford F550 Super Duty chassis and that it's available with either a petrol or a diesel engine. Naturally, it has a 4x4 drivetrain. The equipment list of the Evade includes quite a few fun gizmos. For instance, the search light you see mounted on the roof can be rotated 360 degrees with the help of a joystick. The Conquest Evade also comes with a FLIR night vision camera.

At a time when fuel conservation is becoming imperative across the world, India's Tata Motors is aiming to make a car, Tata Megapixel that can deliver up to 100 kilometres from a litre of fuel by using a unique combination of technology.

The company, which surprised the world with 'Rs.one lakh car' Nano, on Tuesday unveiled the concept vehicle which is a four-seater global range extended electric vehicle (REEV) meant for city driving.

Designed at centers in India, UK and Italy, Megapixel is the progress Tata has to the Tata Pixel concept showcased at last year' Geneva Motor Show.





Turning radius of 2.8 meters helps the car crab in a parking space and is an of the incorporation of the 'Zero Turn' system showcased in the Tata Pixel.

Certain features like the ‘Zero Turn’ drive system where the car crabs into a parking space has been reused on the MegaPixel. This provides an exceptional turning radius of just 2.8 metres!


The MegaPixel comes with a B-pillar less design with double sliding door system ensuring obtrusion-free entry and exit and also enhancing visibility.


Interiors are well organised with space for four adults with luggage and front seats cantilevered on central tunnel for space utilization.

The new innovation from the house of Tatas is likely to be commercially launched in around three years from now.

According to a Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani, a detailed project report for the proposed high-speed bullet train from Chennai to Mysore via Bangalore will be ready by December.

 

The project would cost approximately Rs. 150 crore per kilometer, The Hindu reported earlier this month. The train, which will have a maximum speed of 350 kmph could connect Mysore from Bangalore in less than 30 minutes, the daily added.

 However, it is not clear which Japanese companies were interested in taking up the train project, its estimated cost, the State Government’s role in it and other details.
Official sources said the plan was still in its preliminary stage. JETRO, sources said, has already conducted a survey and found the Chennai-Mysore route very viable for investment.

The Union government is seriously considering developing the Chennai-Mumbai industrial corridor on the lines of the Mumbai-Delhi industrial corridor.

Moreover, Japanese car manufacturing companies Hyundai and Toyota already have their units in Chennai and Bidadi near Bangalore. Toyota has plans to set up another unit in Mysore. This will throw up lucrative business propositions as far as freight service is concerned, sources said.

Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. revealed the highly anticipated all-new Toyota RAV4 EV at the 26th annual Electric Vehicle Symposium in Los Angeles. This all-electric SUV has an expected driving range rating of approximately 100 miles and charging time of approximately six hours on a 240V/40A charger. The RAV4 EV’s driving performance, dynamics and cargo capacity are equal to or exceed the gas powered RAV4 V6. Arriving fully-equipped with an MSRP of $49,800 the RAV4 EV doesn’t compromise on performance, comfort or versatility.

It takes around six hours to charge the battery from the 240-volt charging station; the affixed battery pack has a warranty of eight years or 100,000 miles. The M-class series vehicle by Mercedes Benz is looking to enter the Indian market, this month after some modification.

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class gets a refreshed front end that imparts a more modren look to it. The new headlamps and bumper impart a cleaner yet more aggressive look to the M. It gets daytime running LEDs in the bumper, in line with the rest of the Mercedes range. The 2012 model will switch from CBU status to CKD assembly, which means that its price should drop significantly and make it a viable option for those looking for a luxury SUV to take off-road once in a while. 

The CKD operation also means that the engine options will widen to three: the ML250 Bluetec, a 2.1-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel with 204PS and 500Nm of torque will ensure a very competitive starting price for the new ML. If you need a quicker diesel, you can opt for the ML350 Bluetec, a 258PS, 619Nm monster that manages to move this 2.2-ton machine quicker than most others on our roads. There's also a petrol engine on offer in the ML350 BlueEfficiency, with 306PS and 370Nm but we don't imagine there will be many takers for this variant in the Indian marketplace.
