Maruti’s latest entrant in the MPV segment Maruti Ertiga was unearthed today in Delhi with a price tag of Rs.5.89 lakh petrol car and Rs. 7.30 lakh diesel car
(both prices ex-showroom New Delhi). Maruti eyes to carve a niche in
the MPV segment with this new compact Ertiga MPV. The MPV is perfect
for all those Indian buyers who are looking for more space and want to
upgrade from sedan car
to the utility vehicle car segment. For this seven seater MPV, Maruti
has carved a niche utility segment LUV- Life Utility Vehicle.
This MPV is rolled out in both fuel options with three variants each and the variant are christened same as Maruti Swift Dzire variants. The petrol powered variants of Ertiga are Maruti Ertiga LXi, Maruti Ertiga VXi and Maruti Ertiga ZXi and the diesel power variants are called Maruti Ertiga LDi Maruti Ertiga VDi and Maruti Ertiga ZDi.
The diesel trims are powered by the 1.3L DDiS Mutlijet engine comes from Fiat, that generates 90PS power at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 200Nm from as low as 1,750 rpm with a mileage of 20.77 kmpl. Whereas the new K14 B 4-cylinder, 16-valve engine powers the petrol variant, which churns out a peak power of 95 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 130 Nm at 4,000 rpm and delivers a mileage of 16.02 km per litre. The K14B engine comes with advanced VVT system that produces low friction, low NVH and also light in weight. The total weight of Maruti Ertiga is 1160 Kg and the dimensions are 4265 mm long, 1695 mm wide and 1685mm in height. The wheelbase is 2740mm, that gives a better leg space at the rear seats.
The ground clearance is 185mm and for the suspensions the front is fitted with MacPherson Struts and the rear has a non independent, torsion beam. The Rack and Pinion power steering is electrically assisted to smoothen your drive. The front brakes are ventilated discs and the rear brakes have drums.
The top end variant, ZXi and ZDi are rolled out with steering mounted audio controls, double DIN audio system with USB, middle row AC vent in roof with blow speed adjuster. The steering wheel and the gear knob are leather wrapped. The headrest is adjustable in all seats and the middle row seats are foldable in 60:40 ratios whereas the last row seats are completely foldable. The boot space can be extended from 135 Liters to 735 liters. The safety features of the car include ABS with front two airbags for the driver and the passenger.
