1. PHPList

One of the world’s most popular PHP driven open source email campaign managers around, phplist is free to download, install and use, and is easy to integrate with any website. Phplist is a project sponsored by tincan and downloaded more than 10,000 times per month.



2. NewsLetter System

This is not a totally free script (sorry), but for only USD 10 you get an awesome and complete php newsletter system, it’s definitely worth it! We almost didn’t include it in the list because of its small fee, but after seeing their demo we thought we should include it in this list.
Some of the great features of this “out of the box” newsletter software include: template design, send emails, people can subscribe through your website, double opt in option, track who opens the emails, setup automatic email campaigns, import members via csv, users can unsubscribe themselves.


3. OpenEMM

OpenEMM is a feature-rich, open source web-based newsletter application that runs on Java and Python, on Linux or Windows driven by a MySQL database. It’s suited for email marketing, newsletters and service mails (transaction mails and event or time triggered mails).


4. ADbNewsSender

ADbNewsSender allows you to send newsletters to many different recipients in a simple way and like the most other newsletter scripts, it uses double opt in and can be configured to show a web archive (previously sent emails) to your website’s visitor.
This great free e-mail manager is easy to install and uses a php based newsletter script that runs on MySQL/MariaDB databases and can be used to manage multiple newsletters.

Tellmatic – the newsletter machine” is a PHP based newsletter script to create, manage and send personalized newsletters or mass mails. It uses WYSIWYG and has a form editor. Recipients and newsletter are stored in unlimited groups. It handles bounce mails and failed addresses automatically.
Some features include: GeoIP, has optimized import/export routines, creates graphical statistics and has multi-user support.


7. SimpleNews (Drupal)

With the Simplenews module for Drupal, you can publish and send email marketing campaigns to lists of subscribers. Both authenticated and anonymous visitors can opt-in to different mailing lists you create. HTML email can be send by adding Mime Mail module.

With WordPress being one of the most used blogging / CMS systems out there, we couldn’t leave it behind. The Newsletter for WordPress plug-in has a simple visual composer to create your newsletter and send it to subscribers. The newsletter message can be auto composed starting with blog content and themes.
They also offer a pro version of need need something more elaborated.

Mailman is free software written in Python for managing electronic mail discussion and e-newsletter lists. Mailman is integrated with the web, making it easy for users to manage their accounts and for list owners to administer their lists. Mailman supports built-in archiving, automatic bounce processing, content filtering, digest delivery, spam filters, and more.
