If you notice that your computer tends to slow down whenever you are opening the My Computer folder, here are some steps to help you speed up the process.
- Control Panel. First of all, you will need to go to the Control Panel. The control panel can be accessed through the Start button on the Taskbar. Simply click on the Control Panel and then search for the Folder Options icon. Click on this icon and a small dialogue box will appear which will give you the options for viewing your folders.
- Folder Options. In the Folder Options dialog box, you will find a small tab on the tab, which is labeled as the View Tab. click on this button and you should be able to see an option that reads, “Automatically search for network folders and printers.” This feature will make your computer search the entire network that your computer belongs to for any folders or printers that are synchronized or attached to the computer. This can slow down the process of opening the My Computer icon, especially if your computer is connected to a large network or is connected to many network devices. After unchecking this option, click on the OK button.
