1. Rising of the Sea Levels
When the surface temperature warms up, it causes a significant melting of ice from the glaciers, sea ice as well as the polar ice shelf. When this happens, it increases the quantity of water that flows into oceans all around the world & leads to sea levels rising dramatically, threatening numerous population centers which are positioned in the low-lying coast areas. Scientists have speculated that the melting of ice from Antarctica & Greenland could raise sea levels by over 20 feet till we reach 2100!
2. Heat Waves
Severe heat waves have become more common and the reason is that the greenhouse gases have been trapped inside the atmosphere. Studies state that these heat waves will keep on increasing over the years & become 100 times worse. This will result in a swell in illnesses that are heat-related and also trigger countless wildfires.
3. Killer Storms
When the temperature of the oceans becomes warmer, it fuels storms that are more intense. Global warming shall cause storms to become extremely severe and the numbers will increase as well. The warm ocean water will fuel storm intensity & result in greater number of extremely devastating hurricanes. Effects such as these are being felt already today – we have seen that in the last 30 years, the severity & number of cyclones, hurricanes and storms have increased and they have nearly doubled. All this leads to floods, damage of property as well as loss of life.
4. Drought
Droughts are on the opposite pole of this spectrum & we can see that they are already creating havoc on various parts of our planet. The climate is warming up & in turn dwindling the supply of water, leading to poor agricultural conditions. Because of this, crops are failing increasingly. There is a major shortage of water which is causing disruptions in the global production of food & making starvation increasingly widespread.
5. Species becoming Extinct
Desertification, warming up of the ocean temperatures, as well as deforestation is all contributing to disastrous & irreversible changes that are occurring in the habitat (plants & animals) & threatening to endanger several species that might soon become extinct. Polar bear happens to be the prime example and we see that their numbers are continuously falling as they struggle to acclimatize to loss in ice in regions in arctic. One thing that is crucial for human success is biodiversity & the loss of precious flora & fauna because of mass extinction will threaten our entire planet.
6. Disease
When there is a change in the habitat, it automatically translates to a rise in diseases all across the globe. Warmer temperatures, floods & droughts all combine & create a condition where rats, mosquitoes, as well as other pests that are disease-carrying not only thrive, but also adapt. Diseases such as cholera, West Nile virus, Lyme disease, dengue fever, etc. are ever increasing & are no longer limited to the tropical climates. It is seen that asthma is on a rise because of the increasing smog.
7. Disappearing Glaciers
All across the globe we are seeing that glaciers are shrinking & that too at a very alarming rate. The Glacier National Park boasted a whooping 150 glaciers once upon a time, but now those numbers have dwindled to a mere 35 because of an alarming rise in the temperature. Elsewhere, the areas that were once covered in permafrost have now become home to numerous colorful plant life that is non-native.
8. Wars
Worldwide conflicts & hostilities are on a rise as the numerous nations are competing for the resources that are dwindling. Not many of us are aware that the genocide that happened in Darfur region in Sudan was the consequence of ecological crisis that had roots in reduction of the natural resources that were brought about due to climatic changes. The wars in Somalia started under very similar circumstances. Today, experts dread that such increase in wars for water & food will result in hostility & aggression among some countries.
9. Economic Instability
A nation’s economy is directly correlated to the consequences of climatic changes. Natural disasters like floods as well as hurricanes are costly, there are cleanup costs, and there is extensive damage to property, people lose their incomes and yet they try to reconstruct their lives. Global crisis is leading to a rise in the costs of energy & food; there are more costly insurance premiums, there’s loss of tourism dollars & industrial profits.
10. Ecosystem Failure
The increase in the greenhouse gases is not only causing drastic changes in the higher atmosphere but it is causing havoc across our entire planet, thereby affecting water supply, clean air for agriculture output as well as energy resources. Plants & animals either die or they move to other habitats (non-native) when the ecosystems on which they depend to survive (like coral reefs) are threatened by the warming temperature of the sea & more acidic water. As the change in climate affects the way of life, even humans shall migrate – resulting in increased competition and war over the small quantity of resources.

1. Stinging Nettle

Stinging Nettle, also known as Urtica dioica, is a traditional remedy that has been used for centuries. Is safe and often highly effective. The simplest way to use nettle is as a tea, though supplements are also available. Two to three cups of nettle leaf tea daily will likely improve your condition if you suffer from hay fever. Root extracts of the plant activate the manufacturing of T-cells, which assist in regulating the immune system and decrease symptoms of season allergies such as watery eyes, itchy and sinus congestion. In a study published in 2009, a team of scientists discovered that Urtica dioica may help treat allergies by reducing inflammation.

2. Butterbur

Butterbur (Petasites hybridus) is a shrub-like plant that grows in Europe, northern Asia, and some parts of North America. Extracts made from butterbur have been used in the medicine for stomach cramps, migraines, coughs, asthma and allergies. Although the way of how the herb works is still not known, it is believed to work in a way similar to allergy medications by stopping the action of leukotrienes and histamine, inflammatory chemicals involved in allergic reactions.

3. Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus is considered to be one of the most effective natural allergy remedies. Using eucalyptus topically or orally can treat allergies that result from coughing or nasal congestion. A natural aromatic oil in eucalyptus leaves helps to open clogged sinuses and relieve congestion. Pour boiling water into a larger bowl with two to three drops of eucalyptus essential oil. Cover your head with a towel and breathe above the boil about two feet away for about ten minutes.

4. Green tea

Green tea is a popular natural allergy remedy. It contains chemicals that are helpful against allergy causing elements like dust or pollen. Green tea should be taken as it is, without adding honey, milk or other tea leaves because they can destroy the good elements in the tea. Don’t throw green tea bags because they are also greatnatural allergy remedies. After steeping tea, rub the the bag on the irritated part of skin and the redness will slowly fade away. Good thing about green tea bags is that they can be used more than once a day to stop itching and swelling often associated with allergies.

5. Honey

Honey is a good remedy for most of he pollen allergies. The honey that you use should be local, not pasteurized. Why? Well, pollen in your local area could be the cause of your hay fever allergies. The bees collect pollen from the local plants, and they transfer small amounts of it to their honey. When you consume this honey in small amounts, it works like a series of allergy shots, and that’s how it slowly builds up your tolerance to the allergen and decreases your allergy symptoms. Honey is known to have an anti-inflammatory effect and it can also help your allergies in the short term. One spoonful before outdoor activities will be enough to help with your allergies for the day.

6. Echinacea

Echinacea is an ancient natural allergy remedy. While this herb cannot directly treat your allergies, it may help to improve your immune system and your body will be better able to fight the effects of allergy symptoms. Since allergies tear down your immune systems defenses, Echinacea is useful for keeping you from becoming ill. Also, Echinacea helps in stopping running nose and watery eyes as well as decreasing any swelling in body tissues.

7. Vitamin C

Most of people have already known that vitamin C is a very effective natural allergy remedy. In high doses, Vitamin C may have a remarkable effect in improving allergy symptoms (especially hay fever and asthma) due to it’s ability to fight with the inflammation responses that are part of such conditions. Some experts say that taking 1000 mg of vitamin C each day will help you to fight allergies. During cold and flu season they recommend taking 3000 mg of vitamin C daily. Fruits and vegetables that have generous amounts of vitamin C in them are: oranges, green pepper, broccoli, strawberries, green leafy lettuce, asparagus, peas, blueberries, squash, raspberries, apricots, peaches and many others.

8. Quercetin

This herbal supplement has been known to reduce sinus pain and congestion. Quercetin occurs naturally in some fruits and vegetables (particularly apples and red onions). Some experts say that using 250 milligrams two times a day is enough to reduce or control most allergies. But this treatment will take time (three to four weeks) before it becomes effective. Quercetin works best if you start taking it as a supplement a few weeks before allergy season to develop nutrient levels in the body and increase its tolerance to histamines and allergens.

Based on a report by INAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), a radiation & nuclear disaster or accident is described as “Any event which leads to a significant consequence/s to the environment, facility as well as people. A few examples of such are the lethal consequences to individuals, a large release of radioactivity in the environment, a reactors core melt.”  A nuclear accident’s a disaster that effects people economically, physically, emotionally, mentally, & genetically, damaging & altering the gene that causes serious effects to future generations. This article talks of the 9 most dangerous nuclear power plant accidents that we have witnessed till date.

1.       28th March, 1979- Three Mile Island

28th of March, 1979, Three Mile Island saw a terrible nuclear meltdown in the early hours of the morning. The nuclear accident is said to have released radioactive gases around thirteen million curies into theenvironment & caused loss around 2,400 USD. Fortunately this accident did not result in any injuries or deaths.
2.     13th September, 1987- The Goiania Accident
It was Goiania, Brazil, where a junkyard dealer opened a discarded radiation therapy machine & detached a small radioactive cake (highly) of cesium chloride that exposed over 240 people to radiations. This incident seriously contaminated the surroundings & environment. Several buildings needed to be knocked down. This accident led to the death of 4 people and countless children were affected by this accident.
3.     10th October, 1957- Windscale Pile

It was a wind scale blaze that ignited piles of plutonium & contaminated all the nearby dairy farms. This radioactive contamination resulted in 33 deaths due to cancer. It is said to be the worst ever nuclear accident that Britain has ever seen. This conflagration released over 20,000 iodine curies, plus 594 cesium curies & 24,000 xenon curies apart from radionuclides.
4.      12th December, 1952- Chalk River Nuclear Accident
It was a reactors shutoff rod breakdown, together with numerous operator errors that resulted in a massive power excursion. There were successions of explosions (hydrogen gas) that hurled four-ton gasholders dome about 4 feet in the air where they jammed inside the superstructure. There were thousand curies of products (fission) that were freed in the environment, radioactive contaminated water was pumped out (over million gallons) of the underground area, which was later disposed of close to Ottawa River in the shallow trenches. NRX reactor’s core couldn’t be decontaminated and it was finally buried as a radioactive waste.
5.      9th August, 2004- Mihama Nuclear Power Plant
This Nuclear Power Plant’s situated in the Fukui prefecture in Japan, about 320 kms (close to 200 mile) west of Tokyo. This plant had been commissioned in the year1976 & was a site for numerous small accidents (nuclear-related) in the year 1991 as well as 2003. It was on the 9th of August in the year 2004 that a turbine building’s water pipe adjoining reactor Mihama 3 burst all of a sudden as the workers were preparing to carry out the scheduled safety inspection. This explosion of steam killed five of the plant workers while injuring a dozen others. Even though there was no radiation that was released, it caused havoc. Yet again in the year 2006, Mihama witnessed a fire (on-site) where two of the plant workers lost their lives & the notoriety of this plant increased.
6.     30th September, 1999-Tokaimura Uranium Processing Facility
This accident was a result of human error that was brought about due to rash business choices This facility was formerly being operated by the JCO Ltd. & the processed as well as purified fuel (Uranium) was used by several power plants (nuclear) in Japan.
It is believe that the cause of this accident was workers who were poorly trained @ this Tokaimura plant & these people were missing essential procedures in the process of refining. These workers skipped more than a few essential steps under pressure and the result was that Nitric Acid & powder Uranium Oxide were mixed in a 10-liter bucket instead of numerous dedicated tanks. This mixture reached a critical mass which lead to chain reactions that lasting twenty hours. It is believed that 2 plant workers were killed in this accident because of radiation exposure, while a dozen other people were exposed to abnormal radiation levels.
7.       29th September, 1957- Mayak Nuclear Plant
Also referred to as Chelyabinsk-40 & Chelyabinsk-65, the Mayak Nuclear Plant is said to be amongst the major nuclear facilities present in Russian Federation.  This facility’s seen over 20 accidents which have affected over half million people in 45 years. In this particular accident, the cooling systems for a tank failed and tons of nuclear waste (dissolved) lead to a non-nuclear chemical explosion. The accident released about two million curies radioactivity that spread 15,000 sq. miles & affected more than 200 people who died due to radiation sickness, about 10,000 were evacuated, close to 470,000 people got exposed to sickening radiation. Thousands were killed, even more were injured.
8.     26th April, 1986- Chernobyl Disaster
This accident took place in Ukraine when a reactor near Pripyat town built a fault. Due to a sudden surge of power output, an emergency power cut was attempted which resulted in a severe spike in the power output. The reactor vessel then ruptured & caused multiple explosions. Russia, Ukraine & Belarus were all seriously affected. Evacuations touched 350,400 & WHO estimated that close to 4,000 people died.
9.     11th March, 2011- Fukushima Disaster

Northeast Japan saw a massive quake (8.9-magnitude) on this day which caused deaths, over 80 fires, & a 33 feet tsunami. It led to extensive damage to life & property, homes got swept away. Close to 11 reactors had to be shut down & 5 reactors in Fukushima declared emergency. This accident lead to nuclear contamination…the surrounding areas were contaminated, water, vegetable, milk, & other food products were all contaminated.
