Amul, India's number 1 brand, also scores
high on its witty, rib-tickling advertisements that like wine just keep getting
better with time. The company has been running its popular advertising campaign
since 1966, taking fond potshots at the nation's political, social, sporting
and filmy arenas. For decades, the cute Amul girl has entertained us with her
one-liners. She laughed with us, cried with us and been there through every
defeat and triumphs. Here's a look at some of the most telling advertisements
in the first four months of 2012:
April 2012: Amul girl's take on the fire in a
signal cabin on the Central Railway in which Mumbai faced a harrowing time with
millions of commuters getting affected by it.
April 2012: Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan was
detained at New York airport as he arrived to visit Yale University, where he
was honoured as a Chubb Fellow.
April 2012: An issue a day keeps boredom at
bay - this could well be the guiding principle of West Bengal Chief Minister
Mamata Banerjee these days. How else does one explain her government regularly
dishing out controversies on a platter to her political opponents? This time it
was the cartoon controversy.
